Royal Caribbean wowed cruise pros at a NYC event on April 16 with details of their new ship, Quantum of the Seas. Senior VP Vicki Freed said, “This isn’t just another new ship, this is a quantum leap into a brand new class of ships.”
Godmother Kristin Chenoweth was in the house to help introduce the exciting features.
New thrills at sea include a skydiving experience called Rip Cord by iFly, bumper cars, circus school with trapeze classes, and full-size indoor basketball court.
The North Star may be the most iconic feature of the ship, soaring 300 feet above sea level. Inspired by the London Eye, this can be reserved for private events including WEDDINGS!
Other innovations include multi-use spaces like SeaPlex, which is a bi-level active space. By day, it’s a sports complex. In the evening, it transforms into roller rink or Bumper Car course with DJ. Two70° is an open area living room by day with 27 degree panoramic views which becomes a performance space at night with digital scenery and an ice bar.

I was most impressed by the staterooms. They have single staterooms, some with balconies. They have modular room configurations to accommodate larger family groups in a variety of connecting room options. Most amazing was the “Virtual Balcony” Interior staterooms with huge LED screen showing real-time views of the ocean.
